The walking tours are a great way to explore central Turku and its various sites of interest. Visit Turku organises walking tours throughout the year with various themes available depending on the season.

The public walking tours are available to tourists and, of course, also to Turku locals, offering fascinating tales and the chance get to know the real Turku.

Themed Tours

The themes differ depending on season.

The tours offer a broad range, from the popular Christmas Walks to Mysterious Turku, the Riverside Walk and the film-based tour, Movie Walk – there’s something to suit everyone’s interest!

Movie Walk

Turku has been the location for over 50 movies, countless TV series, animations and documentaries. The tour will introduce you to some of the settings for these movies. Turku is well known as the scene for the Vares detective movies but is also the location for period drama, The Girl King, the romance, Levottomat (restless) and the comedy film, Luokkakokous (reunion). So leave reality behind and immerse yourself in the world of film.

Riverside Walk

The walking tour along the River Aura introduces visitors to what the locals consider as their living room – the banks of the River Aura – and at the same time Turku’s history and present day. Along the journey, get to know the city art, historic buildings and sites of cultural significance.

First in Turku - First in Finland

The Finnish city of Turku has been the forerunner for many things across history! Where was the location of Finland’s first monastery? Who published the first almanac in Finland? What does the oldest theatre in Finland look like? Come and hear about these and many other fascinating firsts that have been born in Turku.

Incredible Women

The tour presents Turku women and women’s Turku throughout the centuries. Join the tour to hear about the entrepreneurial women of Turku from the Middle Ages to the modern day. Special attention is also given to the saintly women of Turku Cathedral, the resting places of noble women as well as the three Catherine’s of Turku Castle.

Christmas Walk

The latest member of the Visit Turku Walk family is a walking tour on Saturdays in December which will introduce participants to the Fabulous Aura River, the Old Great Square and Christmas markets (on the first three tours), the cathedral, how Christmas is celebrated in Turku and Finland and finally to spend some quiet moments in the Holy Ghost Church.
