Örö Fortress Island
Örö is situated overlooking the Baltic Sea, where the shoreless horizon looming behind the nearby reef captivates your gaze. The untouched archipelago and unique nature is the perfect setting for a variety of activities, or as a place to unwind. Get to know the attractions of the island along the marked nature trails and the historic cobblestone paths from the era of Russian imperial rule.
Ferry connections to Örö depart from Hanko and Kasnäs. Faster access is via RIB and taxi boat. Package tours to the island are also organised, such as from Turku, for example. Örö’s guest marina has 70 boat slips, so it’s easy to arrive by boat.
The wilderness of Örö’s national park is combined with a touch of luxury. Completed in summer 2016, Hotel Örö offers a high standard of accommodation. The island also has cosy apartments, cottages and accommodation for groups. Other services on the island include the 12’’ Restaurant, marina bistro and café, summer kiosk as well as kayak and bicycle hire. The best way to experience Örö is to take part in one of the guided tours that run every day during summer.
Örö is open to groups with advance bookings throughout the year. On the island you can organise a wedding, family celebrations, recreational days, meetings as well as seminars. The distance from the ferry terminal in Kasnäs to Turku is approx. 1.5 hours and about 2.5 hours from Helsinki.
