Örö – Located in the Archipelago National Park the fortress island has been restricted for 100 years but now is open to the public.

Örö is situated in the open waters of the Baltic Sea, where the eye is caught by the shoreless horizon disappearing beyond the nearby islets. The untouched and unique nature forms the perfect setting for activities or a period of relaxation. Cobbled streets from Tsarist times as well as marked hiking trails guide visitors to different sites of interest.

Visit the island on your own boat or with organized trips such as those aboard the sailboat Eugenia. The island is accessible from Kasnäs via a number of different ferries as well as fast RIB-boats and taxi boats.

The comfortable and well-equipped apartments offer the possibility for a self-catering holiday and accommodation in the old barracks in hotel standard rooms remind you of the island’s unique military history. The island’s new marina has 70 safe berthing places, a shop and beach café.

12” garrison restaurant is open daily during summer and at other times for exclusive hire by groups. If you want to organize a recreational day, conference, seminar or party in a historically significant setting then Örö is an ideal alternative. The distance is only 2 hours from Turku and 2½ hours from Helsinki.
