Turku’s New Potato Festival digs up the spring potatoes for the eighth time on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th June. The festival is inspired by the gorgeous and distinctive flavour of Finland’s new potatoes, with delicious potato recipes enjoyed amidst happy company and an easy-going festival programme.

For the eight year, the festival will be held in the courtyard of the Brewery Restaurant Koulu.

The festival kicks off on Friday with the Market Cookout competition, where chefs from Turku’s restaurants cook up some competitive portions, with judging at noon in the courtyard of the Koulu. The food vendors in the courtyard as well as the potato and herring stalls open at 2pm. Portions of the competition’s new potato creations can be bought from the stalls of the Brewery Restaurant Koulu, Turku’s Master Chefs, Hus Lindman, J. J. de Nier Food Experience, Jesse's Dine, Xoco´s, Restaurant Aune as well as Restaurant 3. linja.

The festival’s opening ceremony is at 5pm. The city mayor, Minna Arve, will open the event and grace will be given by Mari Sandell, the chair of the Kaffeli Association. SoHon Torwet will play traditional music long into the night.

In the courtyard on Saturday at 12pm, and continuing throughout the day, visitors can enjoy delicious potato dishes, a brass band and general food and summer merriment. Stalls close at 10pm. Entry to the courtyard is free.
