Kastu is a peaceful area located only about two kilometers north of the centre of Turku, between the highway to Tampere and the road Raunistulan puistotie.
Kastu combines a host of nearby local services with a pleasant atmosphere. Wooded and rocky hills are pleasing to the eye and the Kirveenpuisto park and Kaniikinmäki hill are stunning natural recreation areas. The area of Kastu is of great significance as a number of Iron Age relics have been discovered there.
Kastu in the 1950s belonged to the municipality of Maaria (Maria or Mary), which is why you will still find names such as St Mary’s Church and the Voluntary Firebrigade of Maaria.
