Every Finnish person knows of the Airisto waltz. Now all you need to know is what actually is the Airisto?
Well, the Airisto is the 20 km long sea that stretches across the Turku Archipelago, comprising the waters of Naantali, Turku and Parainen.
More than 90 meters at its deepest point, the Airisto runs through the Naantali shipping lane, along which sail the Swedish ships to the Port of Turku. Located on the shores of the Airisto in Parainen is the Airisto Marina and resort, where you’ll also find the traditional Hotel Airisto Strand.
Other attractions to keep in mind when travelling to the Airisto are the historical islands of Seili as well as Loistokari where, during summer, the S/S Ukkopekka makes dinner cruises from Turku.
