Warsaw, here we come! Wizz Air has announced new direct flight route from Turku, Finland. Starting from June 2020 you can flight directly from Turku to Warsaw, Poland. In Turku, we of course hope you'll also do that vice versa! Welcome to Turku!

For Alvar Aalto week, the last building up for introduction is the white clean-lined Paimio Sanatorium, built in 1930–33. Renamed in 1971 as the Paimio Hospital, this was that building that brought Aalto international recognition and it put Finland on the international map of modern architecture. Happy Finnish Nature Day! The Finnish Nature Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of each August, cheerfully and with a blink in an eye! Did you know that Finland was the first country to raise flag for the nature? In Turku, Finland the nature is very close to the city. There are many great areas nearby where you go and enjoy the nature and the silence. One of these great places is Kurjenrahka National Park. So raise a flag for Finnish nature and head towards outdoors!

These warm August nights by the river are the best.

For our next #instagrammableturku -location we head to the place that makes our city: The Aura River bank. During summer people are drawn to here, and it’s no surprise- it’s a calm and picturesque surrounding. Whether you choose to sit down on the grass and read a book or grab lunch on one of the restaurants along the river- prepare to be charmed. There are many Instagrammable angles around the Aura River, but we chose the pastel houses on Läntinen Rantakatu for this post. Because simply, who doesn’t love a pastel house? Alvar Aalto week is finally here! Next building for introduction is the Southwestern Finland Agricultural Cooperative Building. It was the first building that Aalto desinged to Turku. It was build in 1927-1928 and The building has five floors and an attic.The floor area is 12,050 m². Southwestern Finland Agricultural Cooperative Building, along with Aalto’s other works, the Standard Apartment House and The Office Building for Turun Sanomat Newspaper, are included in the listing of Built Cultural Environments of National Importance.
